Greeting Cards

My illustrations are now available as greeting cards! These cards are lovely gifts for plant & bird lovers and suit any occasion while giving a distinctly native touch.

The cards are made in Melbourne; printed on premium quality 100% recycled paper with a laid texture (300 gsm). It is blank on the inside and comes with a recycled brown Kraft peel and seal envelope.

My Inspiration

My first attempt at a female Red Tailed Black Cockatoo, also known as the Banksian Cockatoo. Although I was completely mesmerised by the beautiful heart shaped patterns on its feathers, I have to admit, bringing this beauty to life was nerve racking. While looking for a plant to accompany this bird, I came across native Forget Me Not flowers, which, owing to its colour and shape, was the perfect partner to this bird……

Inspired by the bird and plant life of Australia, Mai has created a range of fine art prints with intricately drawn native flora and fauna. Each artwork is reproduced from an original hand drawn illustration and printed on archival quality Hahnemuhle German Etching paper using high quality fine art pigment inks. All prints are proudly made and printed in Australia.

Art Shows

Every year, a group of local avian artists come together for an exhibition that celebrates Australia’s remarkable diversity of bird fauna.

Set in the picturesque region of the Macedon Ranges, The Old Auction House Gallery in Kyneton has housed past exhibitions for avian artists showcasing their work in various styles and mediums.

It is inspired by a love for our colourful, noisy and clever native bird species, and each artist’s own experiences with them around Australia.

Behind the Art
